The Complete Guide to Merging PDFs

Need to combine invoices, reports, or contracts into one file? Here's everything you need to know about merging PDFs quickly and safely.

When do you need to merge PDFs?

Merging PDFs is one of the most common document tasks in any office:

  • Combining multiple invoices into one monthly statement
  • Joining a contract with its annexes into a single file
  • Assembling a report from sections created by different people
  • Packaging a portfolio into one shareable document

What to consider before merging

Page order matters. Think about the logical reading sequence before you upload. PDFCraft lets you drag files to reorder them before merging.

File size. Each PDF you add contributes to the final size. Compress large files first if the merged result will be emailed.

Passwords. Password-protected PDFs cannot be merged without first unlocking them. Use the Unlock PDF tool first if needed.

How to merge PDFs with PDFCraft

  1. Open the Merge PDF tool.
  2. Upload your PDF files — up to 20 at once, up to 200 MB each.
  3. Drag the file cards to set the order you want.
  4. Click Merge PDFs.
  5. Download your combined file.

That's it. No account, no watermarks, no file size tricks.

Tips for a clean merge

  • Name your files clearly before uploading (e.g., "01-cover.pdf", "02-report.pdf") — it makes ordering easier.
  • Check page orientation — mixing portrait and landscape pages is fine, but double-check the result.
  • Bookmarks from individual PDFs are preserved in the merged file.
